What are the eligibility criteria?

People with 'critical' or 'substantial' needs will be eligible for social care support.

The aim of these national criteria is to work out where there is the greatest risk to someone’s independence. These criteria also make sure that the limited budget local authorities have is spent on the people who need services most. This then makes sure that adults across the country have equal access to services. The criteria outline four areas of need.
Critical
Critical is defined as a situation where the need is, or will be, apparent now or within seven days
Substantial
Substantial is defined as a situation where the need is, or will be, apparent now or within six weeks.
Moderate and Low
Information if you have been identified as having a moderate or low need.
