How social care is changing – Putting People First and self-directed support

We are gradually changing the way people receive care and support, so that it gives them more independence, choice and control over their own lives – known as self-directed support. For example, people can choose whether they want Adult Social Care or another agency to arrange home care, or whether they would prefer to hire a personal assistant.
