Social care for older people

We employ trained people to assess problems you may be experiencing in your home and to help you find solutions. The help we can provide includes:
- Navigator service
- Navigators are trained community workers who visit people aged 60 and over. They can help find support services for people living independently, to improve health and wellbeing.
- Looking after you
- Services for older people, including day, home, residential, nursing and respite care.
- Disabled parking
- Information about a national scheme (Blue Care badge scheme) that helps people with limited mobility to park near shops and other community facilities.
- Rehabilitation
- For people who are either coming out of hospital, or need rehabilitation to enable them to cope in their own homes
- Adaptations to your home
- Information for those with physical disabilities about house alterations to help you manage important daily activities – such as adding a ramp to your front door.
- Equipment (Daily Living Equipment)
- Details about ‘daily living equipment’ (DLE) – such as walking aids and telecare – that can make a big difference to how you carry out day-to-day activities.
- Protecting your home
- Information about how to protect your property if you are admitted into hospital or residential nursing care.
- Incontinence laundry service
- The incontinence laundry service can help you cope with problems that incontinence can cause when living in your own home.
- Age Well Project – new care homes for older people
- This project will replace existing buildings at Mount Denys and Pinehill in Hastings, Ridgewood Rise in Uckfield and Harvard Road in Ringmer.
- Protecting vulnerable adults from abuse
- Our leaflet explains what to do if someone comes to you for help, or if you suspect someone might be at risk.
- Keep Warm, Keep Well
- Keep Warm, Keep Well is a national campaign to combat the effects of winter that can lead to strokes, respiratory diseases and death.
- Developing services for older people
- If you are over 50, find out how to get involved in local forums in your area, comment on our older people's strategy or find out about consultations that affect older people.
