What is shop mobility?

The shop mobility scheme allows people with mobility difficulties to borrow a self-propelled or battery operated wheelchair or scooter to travel around the town centre.

Who qualifies for shop mobility?

Anyone who has a temporary or permanent physical disability which limits their ability to walk can join the shop mobility scheme.

How do I hire equipment?

Most schemes ask that you bring identification with your name and address so you can register on your first visit.. Many schemes will issue you with a membership card and, on your next visit, you can simply show this card.

Once you have registered, a member of staff will talk to you about what sort of vehicle you require such as buggy or powered wheelchair, and what you will feel comfortable using.
