What is the Partnership Board?

The Learning Disability Partnership Board was set up in 2001. This group is responsible for making sure things get better for adults with learning disabilities and their carers. It is the first step towards making ‘Valuing People’ happen locally. Valuing People is the Government’s White Paper on learning disability.

What does the Partnership Board do?

The board focuses on:

  • making sure that people with learning disabilities and their carers have a say in planning and developing services and policies
  • drawing up action plans in order to develop specific work locally through its subgroups.
  • organising information events on a range of topics, and
  • funding local projects and services which support people with learning disabilities and their carers.

The board carries out much of its work through sub groups. There are sub groups for topics such as person centred approaches, day services modernisation, employment, transition, workforce planning, housing and direct payments

What are the locality network groups?

In order to provide opportunities for people to talk about learning disability issues, the board operates three local groups. These local groups cover Hastings and Rother, Eastbourne and Downs, and Lewes and Weald.
