Making a complaint against a residential home

How to make a complaint?

If you are concerned about the care that you, a friend or a relative are receiving in a residential home, you should speak to the manager of the home about your concerns.

If you want to make a formal complaint, you should ask to see the complaints procedure. All residential homes are required to have a complaints procedure which is available to residents and prospective residents.

Who should I speak to?

If you are making a formal complaint, Needs assessment you should contact the registered owners of the residential home initially. They have a duty to respond to any complaints made.

What can Adult social care do?

If Adult social care has arranged a place for you in a residential home, and they have a contract with the home you can contact us for assistance and advice. If you are not sure if we have a contract with the home, speak to the manager of your care home.

In some cases the Adult social care complaints procedure may be initiated.
