We've started work on Warwick House, a new £6 million development in Seaford which will include a brand new library, day services for older people and supported living flats.
We hope to open this new building by autumn 2013.
What will be included
By sharing facilities, different sections of the community – who might otherwise feel isolated – can come together.
Day services
Our new day centre for older people will specialise in giving support to both people with dementia, and those who are physically frail. We'll also offer important services to carers, helping you cope with the day-to-day practicalities of looking after someone with a long-term health condition.
The centre will have flexible opening times, which may include extended hours and weekends, to take into consideration carers' needs. It will provide an average of 30 places during weekdays and possibly a further 25 places at weekends.
The new building will also provide an opportunity for older people's services to work alongside other community services such as carers groups and health services.

Supported accommodation
Supported living flats will be built, offering adults with a learning disability the chance to have their own place and live independently.
If you need support with everyday living, either in the short or long term, you may be eligible for these flats. The service includes support, accommodation, and where necessary help with personal care, meals and laundry.

New Seaford Library
In our 2009 survey, asking you what you want from library services, you told us that you want us to improve the layout, design or location of some libraries.
Warwick House will include a stunning new state-of-the-art library, replacing the existing Seaford Library which has been in this location since 1946.
Seaford Library is the fourth busiest in the county. During 2007/2008 members of the public visited 174,181 times and borrowed around 149,773 items.

Location
It is hoped to build the new development on the site of the library at 17 Sutton Park Road.
Seaford Library has moved to a different location while we carry out building work on Warwick House. The old library closed in January 2012 and the temporary library opened at Elm Court, Blatchington Road in February 2012. Please see:
When will work happen
We hope that building work can start in 2011, subject to planning permission. An approximate timescale for this work is:
- 2009 to 2010 – feasibility study, and search for temporary accommodation for existing library during the planned redevelopment of the site
- 2010 to 2011 – agree building design, request planning consent and if successful, start work on site
- 28 January 2012 – existing Seaford Library closed
- 20 February 2012 – temporary Seaford Library opened
- 2011 to 2013 – complete construction, move in, and celebrate with an official opening.
