The first phase of the Lewes – Ringmer cycleway was completed in autumn 2010.
For safety reasons, this phase ends at the bend near the electricity sub-station, where there is good visibility for all road users. A footway provides pedestrian access to Malling Down. When funding becomes available, we plan to upgrade the footway and extend the cycleway towards Lewes.
Increased cycling between Ringmer and Lewes should contribute to a reduction in car travel and reduced congestion at Earwig Corner and in Lewes.
