Crash sites in East Sussex

Each year we identify sites that have the most crashes that result in injury. We then study the causes of the crashes to see how we can reduce the number of casualties on the roads in East Sussex.

Our crash data analysis system is used to identify where there have been four or more crashes within a three year period. In urban areas, sites are identified around a 25m radius. Rural areas use a radius of 50m, because crashes in rural locations are often spread out over a longer section of road.

Priority is given to improving the sites which have the highest number of crashes and the most fatal or serious casualties.

The most recent review of sites looked at crashes recorded by Sussex Police between January 2008 and December 2010. 94 sites have been identified and these are listed below together with their rank and the crash and casualty record.
