Westham and Pevensey community bus – volunteers wanted

Community bus
Community bus

In February 2008, the Rover 6 bus serving parishes in Westham and Pevensey became a Community Bus link. Thanks to the generous response to our recruitment campaign so far, we have enough volunteers to run the new service two days a week.

But we still need your help!

If you can spare a few hours each month, enjoy meeting new people and getting out and about, you could help provide a valuable service in your local community. We are looking for volunteer drivers and people to take bookings.

Volunteering stories

Two drivers from Cuckmere Community Bus team tell us about their experiences as volunteer team members:

Driving the bus has added a new dimension to my life – meeting and working with people that I could not meet if I just stayed at home.

Drivers
If you drive a car, you could drive the community bus:

  • there are no special age or license requirements
  • we will provide training and support.

Booking volunteers
You can volunteer to be part of a team taking bookings and sending details to drivers:

  • all you need is a home telephone
  • we will provide training and cover your costs.
