Parking controls in Eastbourne
Latest information about proposed revised parking controls and charges, in the Eastbourne town centre controlled parking area and part of the seafront.
When did the new controls start?
The new parking controls in the town centre, including pay and display charges, started on Monday 20 October 2008. This means that there are now charges for parking in pay & display bays and permit holders must display a valid permit to park.
We know that it may take a few days for people to get used to the new rules and will enforce them sensitively. It is important that you park in accordance with the rules, so that you do not get a parking ticket.

Applying for a parking permit
We have written to everyone on our permit holder database with details of permits, application forms and instructions about how to apply.
If you are a resident or a business in the controlled area and do not have a temporary permit, contact the Eastbourne Parking Information Centre.

Blue Badge parking
Some parking bays in the controlled area are only for vehicles displaying a valid Blue Badge.
Under the new controls, the length of time that a Blue Badge holder will be able to park in some of these bays is restricted to three hours. Look for the signs.
This change was made in consultation with groups representing people with disabilities, to ensure the best turnover of spaces for all Blue Badge holders in the town centre.
The Blue Badge bays on the seafront have no time limit. Blue Badge holders living in the controlled parking area can obtain a residents’ permit at reduced cost of £5.
More information about parking for Blue Badge holders is available in our Parking bays, permits and charges – information sheet.
