Annual progress report 2005

The 5th Annual Progress Report (APR) sets out the continual progress we have made in improving transport choice in East Sussex and delivering both national and local transport targets. This contributes towards the delivery of the objectives of the first Local Transport Plan (LTP1).

During 2004–05, we invested over £12 million in implementing more than 400 transport schemes, including:

  • 2 bus priority schemes
  • 15 road crossings
  • 226 maintenance schemes
  • 56 bus infrastructure schemes
  • 7 local safety schemes
  • 27 travel plans
  • 209 cycling schemes
  • 7 traffic calming and traffic management schemes.

We have reported that two thirds (6 out of 9) of the national core targets and 85% (23 out of 27) of the local targets are on track to be achieved. We are also on track to meet the national road accident reduction targets two years early.

We submitted our provisional second Local Transport Plan (LTP2) in July 2005, covering the period 2006 to 2011. The final document will be available in March 2006. Progress made in delivering the LTP2 objectives and targets will be reported in subsequent APRs.
