What is Oxford Art Online?
Oxford Art Online gives you access to a range of art reference books, including the authoritative 'Grove dictionary of art' and 'Benezit dictionary of artists'.
Explore more than 45,000 articles on worldwide visual arts from prehistory to the present day, including:
- full text of the 34-volume ‘Dictionary of art' plus the ‘Oxford companion to western art' and 'Concise Oxford dictionary of art terms'.
- over 2,500 art images and line drawings within the articles plus over 40,000 links to images on other museum and art websites
- fine arts such as painting and sculpture and the decorative arts such as jewellery and interior design.
You can search more than 21,000 biographies – including artists, architects, collectors and writers – by name, birth and death dates, places, nationality and occupation.

Use your library card and PIN to sign into the E-library and go directly to the online reference library page.
