What is the 'Digital Library Ireland'?

Discover Ireland's cultural and political life from the 18th century to the present day through journals, manuscripts and more, including:

  • periodicals and journals such as 'Irish Historical Studies' and art publication 'Circa'
  • material focusing on Irish history, politics and economics 1749 to 1814
  • cultural studies and Anglo-Irish literature spanning the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries – including 'Gulliver's Travels' by Jonathan Swift
  • 'Proceedings and Transactions of the Royal Irish Academy' which date back to 1787
  • melodies and Irish music collected by Edward Bunting in the early 19th century.

These documents are held at Queen's University Belfast, Royal Irish Academy, The Linen Hall Library, The Armagh Public Library and Jesuit Library at Milltown Institute.

Use 'Digital Library Ireland' in your local library

To use our computers just bring along some identification or your library card if you are a member. You don't need to book but we recommend it to make sure you get a place.
