Library computers have full access to the library edition of Ancestry website.
What is Ancestry?
Ancestry is the leading online resource for family history research. It includes records from the UK, USA and Canada and other international sources. Use our computers to find:
- census, birth, marriage and death records
- military, immigration, court and probate information
- BT telephone directories from 1880 to 1984
- newspapers and biographies
- photos and maps.
You can also search nearly 400 million names on the Ancestry World Tree and download charts to help record your research so far and create a family tree.
For details about the services not available on the version of Ancestry used in our libraries, read the leaflet Key differences between Ancestry.com and Ancestry Library Edition – ProQuest website (Adobe PDF).
There are more family history resources on the Find My Past website which you can also use free of charge in our libraries – see Find My Past – community edition.
Use Ancestry in your library
To use our computers just bring along some identification or your library card if you are a member. You don't need to book but we recommend it to make sure you get a place.
