Book of the month for children – November 2007

'Before I die'
'Before I die'

'Before I die' by Jenny Downham

An astonishingly unsentimental story of a teenage girl dying of cancer. She sets out a list of things to do before she dies which includes drugs and sex.

This is a book that will challenge and move the reader but the tale is simply told in a totally honest and straightforward manner. There is no mawkish sentimentality or shocking outrage. Not a comfortable read but certainly different!
