Music – borrowing CDs, books and scores

Music books and online resources

Our larger libraries in Lewes, Eastbourne and Hastings have specialist titles and reference materials about music. Ask staff at any library for help – they will refer your enquiry to a larger library if necessary.

Our other libraries have books on composers, musicians and pop stars. You can also use computers at any library free of charge to search our subscription databases:

Compact discs

You can hire up to six CDs for a week for a small charge. Our wide-ranging collection includes classical, folk, pop and jazz.

CDs are kept at Bexhill, Eastbourne, Hastings, Lewes and Peacehaven libraries and you can ask for them to be delivered to your local library for collection.

  • New CDs – lists new titles over three months.

Scores

You can borrow individual or sets of scores, and ask for them to be delivered to your local library for collection. There is a hire charge for sets of scores.

  • Full scores
Kept at Lewes and Eastbourne libraries
  • Miniature scores
    Kept at Lewes library
  • Sets of vocal scores
Kept at County Library Store, to be collected at your local library. Reference copies can be seen at Lewes and Eastbourne libraries. Download our list of score sets.

Ask your local library if you want to borrow scores not in stock. Please give full details about the scores with as much notice as possible, and we will try to get these from libraries outside East Sussex for a small charge – see our fees and charges.
