Spring in East Sussex

Spring is a great season to get out and about across our beautiful county. Daffodils, bluebells and tulips are bursting through and the first spring lambs will soon be spotted in the fields.

Find out where you can see some of the spring spectacles East Sussex has to offer.

Flowers

• Abbot's Wood – forest trail with bluebells.
• Arlington Bluebell Walk – a spring tradition, now in its 36th year.
• Ditchling Common – a whole field of bluebells.
• Park Wood, Hellingly – a carpet of spring flowers including bluebells, anemones and celandines.
• Pashley Manor Gardens – see daffodils and narcissi, tulips amd bluebells.
• Wilderness Wood – walks though anemones and bluebells.

Lambs

• Beachy Head Sheep Centre – guided tours available at lambing time.
• Blackberry Farm, Whitesmith – see and feed the lambs and other animals.
• Seven Sisters Sheep Centre – watch lambs being born at this working sheep farm in East Dean.
• Spring Barn Farm Park, Lewes – lambing and other activities for all the family.

• High Weald – what's on in the High Weald area.
• Spring festivals – a short list of festivals taking place from March to May around the county.
• Wilderness Wood – events include heavy horses and fairy gardens.

National surveys

• Nature Detectives – children can log signs of spring in their area, to help build up a picture of the whole country.
• Springwatch from the BBC – take part in the BBC's popular annual survey (from May) that looks at the whole country.
