Get ready to celebrate – make the games local!
What is a Local Leader?
The Local Leader programme is an opportunity for people in communities across the UK to celebrate the Games in their local areas.
Across the whole of the UK, millions of people will be part of the celebrations. And at the heart of every celebration will be the one person who makes it happen. The person who makes a difference and just gets stuff done.
If this sounds like you, why don't you sign up to be a London 2012 Local Leader?
It's simple: all you need is an idea of how you will celebrate the Games and then get organising. You can create your own events or get involved with the some of the ideas communities across the UK have suggested to London 2012. From Gardening for the Games to planning a Sports Quiz or an Opening Night In, get your friends, family and neighbours ready to celebrate.

Garden for the Games
Bring your neighbourhood together with Olympic Games inspired gardening ideas this spring. You could grow flowers in the shape of a Union Jack or the Olympic Rings, run window boxes or hanging baskets down your street in red, white and blue or grow a bee friendly meadow like the one in the Olympic Park.
For advice on growing flowers and veggies and getting your gardens, streets and local spaces ready for the Games, see:
Line the Streets
Cheer on your local torchbearers as the Olympic flame passes through East Sussex. Strike up the band, bring out the bunting, celebrate with flame-inspired snacks or get dressed up in fancy dress, flame hats or golden clothes and face-paint.
