Sports funding
Latest: Young people across the county have been awarded over £12,000 of sports funding. Find out more about the Sports Development Awards.
Setting up and running a sports club takes time and money. There are local and national organisations that you can apply to for funding, for example to buy equipment, and help promote and develop your club.
There are also organisations that can help if you are a young amateur sportsman or woman looking for help to develop your skills.
Funding for sports clubs and projects
If you are looking for funding for your club or sports project you may find the following websites useful.
Sussex County Sports Partnership
Lists funding sources for sports clubs, and provides advice on setting up and running a club.
Awards for All
Provides grants of between £500 and £5000 for projects in local communities across the UK. You can download an application form and get advice on making your funding application.
Sportsmatch
If you have got commercial sponsorship for a sports project, you can apply to Sportsmatch for further funding. The website tells you how to apply and has advice on how to find a commercial sponsor.
Sport England
This site includes a list of recognised national governing bodies who can help you find funding.
Funding for individuals
Sports Development Awards
If you have a talent for sport and are aged 11–19, you could be eligible for a Sports Development Award. Applications for 2008 closed on 28 March.
SportsAid
A charity that provides financial help for young sportsmen and women aged 12 to 18. Find out about the Talented Athlete Sponsorship Scheme and how you can take part in events to raise funds for SportsAid.
