Research service ordering

Use the form below to request help from East Sussex Record Office for your history research. Make sure you include as much detail as possible (ie for family history requests give exact names, dates of birth and places of birth).

We charge £25 per hour for research (£50 for businesses) and require payment for at least one hour. If you are unsure how long your research is likely to take, we recommend you initially pay for one hour only.

Payment may be made:

  • by a sterling cheque drawn on a UK bank account, made payable to 'East Sussex County Council'
  • by credit card over the phone. UK callers phone 01273 482349. Overseas callers phone the local code for dialling out of the country, then 44 1273 482349.

Important note – the more detailed information you give us about what you want, the better the results are likely to be. Paying for research, however, does not always guarantee results.
