A list of our collections

A list of our collections (also known as holdings) is available and includes all the books, newspapers and periodicals held at East Sussex Record Office and our libraries. These are a good starting point for research.

'A short guide to holdings' contains a full list of the collection of historic source material available in East Sussex Record Office.

Areas covered include:

  • parish, borough, district and county councils, police , schools, health authorities (including hospitals) and workhouses
  • quarter sessions, petty sessions, county courts and coroners
  • taxation and rating authorities, vehicle licensing, maritime and river authorities
  • manorial, estate and family, solicitors, deeds, businesses, societies and charities
  • ecclesiastical parishes, other churches and wills
  • maps and plans.
