Days out in East Sussex

Each of the days out includes a selection of East Sussex highlights for families, friends or lone adventurers to enjoy. If you prefer, any one of the attractions could fill a whole day.

We have tried to be accurate in the information we have given, but please check opening times of attractions before setting out.

An artistic day out
See murals at Berwick Church and Charleston, followed by the splendours of Firle Place.
A family day out
Take the family to the zoo, have tea at Alfriston and go for a dip at the seaside.
A day out visiting gardens
Three beautiful gardens – Groombridge Place, Pashley Manor and Great Dixter.
A day out visiting historic towns and buildings
Visit the ancient towns of Rye and Winchelsea, nearby Battle with its abbey and Bodiam's medieval castle.
A day out and about in the High Weald
Get some fresh air and exercise at Wilderness Wood, Ashdown Forest and Forest Way Country Park.
A day out west
A mixture of places to see in the west of the county – Sheffield Park Garden, Bluebell Railway and Heaven Farm.
