Our local Connect2 scheme is the Hastings to Bexhill Coastal Connection, which will provide a new cycle and pedestrian link along the beach between Bexhill and Hastings. Construction has finished and the new route is now open.
The new 1.4 mile path will provide a safe alternative to the busy A259 and will improve access to the coast and beach. We hope this will encourage more people to travel by foot and by bike.
The project received funding from the Big Lottery Fund's 'Living Landmarks: The People's Millions' by television vote in December 2007. We also received further funding from the Sustrans Links to Schools project.
Connect2 is a national project consisting of 79 local schemes aimed at improving access to the local community through new walking and cycling routes.
