Harbours and moorings

Listed below are the main marinas and harbours in East Sussex, from east to west across the county.

Newhaven

Newhaven is the only cross channel ferry harbour in Sussex. The main place to moor private boats is Newhaven Marina.

Eastbourne

Eastbourne is home to one of the largest marinas in the UK, Sovereign Harbour. A 24 hour lock allows access to moorings at all times, including low tide. The quayside is home to a wide range of shops, restaurants and bars.

Rye

Rye Harbour is a former Cinque Port and is owned and managed by the Environment Agency. There are over 300 moorings and around 30 visitor berths. Rye Harbour is tidal and all the moorings drain to mud twice a day.
