Description of art project
'Being Elsewhere' showed the different connections people have with reading and books.
Library users were interviewed about their experience of reading and how it fitted into their lives.
Close-up photographs of people taken while reading offer a glimpse into the intimate, sometimes hypnotic relationship between readers and their books.
As a creative act reading has a low visibility, yet each day readers spark new and old creations into life across the arc between brain and eye.

'Being Elsewhere' was one of the projects supporting the new library in Lewes. It involved East Sussex County Council and Lewes Library Friends.
Funding was provided by East Sussex County Council, Rother District Council and Awards for All.
