Funding for the arts

The Cultural Strategy Manager can advise you about sources of funding, offer guidance about making applications and review emailed draft applications.

GRANTnet

For community based arts projects, the GRANTnet website will match your project with potential sources of funding including Trusts and Foundations.

Awards for All

A Lottery grants scheme for local communities. A good starting point for projects involving professional artists working with others who will have the opportunity to develop skills. You can apply for up to £10,000.

The Cultural Strategy Manager can act as an independent referee for these applications if appropriate.

The Arts Council

For artist-lead initiatives, commissions of new work, and projects where the arts are the main driver. In particular visit the Grants for the Arts section.

This is a highly competitive process – even more so now due to pressure on funding for the Olympic Games in 2012.

All applicants to the Arts Council’s Grants for the Arts should discuss their application with the Cultural Strategy Manager, who will be asked by Arts Council England to comment on it as part of the assessment process.

Public Art projects

Please see our pages about Public Art which list specialised sources of funding.
