Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)

Latest: From 1 April 2008, the LGPS is changing. The new LGPS remains a final salary scheme. Your benefits will be based on your final year’s pay and the number of years you have been a member of the scheme. Download the list of pay bands and contribution rates from our page of pension guides and leaflets.

The East Sussex Local Government Pension Scheme is administered by the County Council. The scheme provides retirement benefits for County Council employees, but members also include employees of Brighton & Hove City Council, the five borough and district councils, universities, colleges and public authorities.

The scheme is designed to provide financial security for you and your dependants, both while you are working and during your retirement.

If you are interested in more general information about pensions or about planning for your retirement, you can find some useful information on the government’s Pension Service website.
