South East Plan

What is the South East Plan?
The South East Plan has been prepared by SEERA and sets out a long-term strategy for future development in the region. It provides the guiding framework for the detailed local development frameworks and other plans prepared by local authorities.

Who does what?
The government, local authorities and other partners – as well as the South East England Regional Assembly (SEERA) – all played important roles in preparing and implementing the South East Plan. Find out who was responsible for different aspects of the overall process.
Core regional policies
The South East Plan includes core regional policies that apply across the whole of the region.
Sub-regional strategies
The South East Plan establishes specific housebuilding targets for every district and unitary authority in the region. It also includes additional policies for a number of sub-regions (including the Sussex Coast) where a distinct approach is needed to tackle key issues.
Gypsy and Traveller review
As part of the South East Plan, the South East England Regional Assembly (SEERA) is developing policies on meeting the accommodation needs of Gypsies and Travellers in the region.
Consultations
Gives details of the consultations organised by both SEERA and the County Council at earlier stages in the preparation of the South East Plan.
