Waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)

Waste electrical and electronic equipment
Waste electrical and electronic equipment

From 1 July 2007 new regulations mean that any waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) taken to our household waste recycling sites will need to be separated from other waste. This means that we will be able to make sure that more items can be recycled or disposed of safely, instead of going to landfill.

WEEE items include household appliances such as fridges and toasters, computers and telephones and televisions. Anything that is powered by electricity or batteries is a WEEE item.

Special containers will be provided to make sure these items are collected separately.

Please bear with us as we introduce this important new environmental scheme.

Further information

Details of different ways to recycle some types of electrical items can be found on our Electrical and hazardous waste page.
