A vibrant future for Eastbourne and Hailsham

Regenerating the economy of the Eastbourne and Hailsham area is one of our priorities.

Developing a master plan

Following research on the economic needs of the Eastbourne Hailsham area – originally commissioned by the Eastbourne Regeneration Partnership ‘Momentum' – a partnership was set up between the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), East Sussex County Council, Eastbourne Borough Council and Wealden District Council.

The aim of this partnership is to:

  • investigate the opportunities presented by planned growth
  • develop an economic strategy to achieve a ‘step change' in the area's economy which could be recommended to public and private sector partners.

The partnership commissioned consultants GVA Grimley to help them in this work. Their report ‘Eastbourne-Hailsham Triangle: Towards a Master Plan' identifies a number of economic sectors and potential projects which could help redevelop the economy of Hailsham, Eastbourne and Polegate. You can download the report and executive summary below.

Planning in Eastbourne and Hailsham

This master plan is being used as background evidence to develop the planning policy – known as the Local Development Framework Core Strategy – of both Eastbourne Borough Council and Wealden District Council.
