Waste and Minerals Sustainability Appraisal – scoping report (consultation draft)
In partnership with Brighton & Hove City Council, we asked for comments on a draft Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report for our Waste and Minerals Core Strategy and Mineral Site Development Plan Document.
The scoping report is the first stage of the sustainability appraisal process.
Consultation
The five-week period of formal public consultation on the Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report ended on Monday 23 April 2007.
The report and appendices, plus the comments we received and our responses can be downloaded, below.
Scoping workshops
Workshops involving key stakeholders including community groups, waste and minerals companies and parish councils were held in Eastbourne and Hove in March 2007. They considered the sustainability issues identified in the scoping report and the appraisal process.
A summary report of the two scoping workshops describing their purpose, the process used and main findings, as well as recommendations for the next stages of the SA, can be downloaded below.
The report and presentations from the workshops are available to download below.
Background
The scoping report includes:
- a review of relevant plans, policies and programmes to provide a policy background
- local baseline information which sets the baseline for future monitoring and identifies trends, challenges and opportunities within the plan area
- development of a Sustainability Appraisal Framework that includes sustainability objectives and indicators
- information on the next steps of the SA process.
