Statement Of Community Involvement (SCI)

Our Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out proposals for involving the community in:

  • setting policies for minerals and waste development
  • dealing with planning applications for minerals and waste development
  • dealing with planning applications for County Council developments, such as schools and roads.

All local authorities must produce an SCI showing how the public will be involved in their planning documents and planning applications. The SCI is part of the East Sussex Minerals and Waste Development Framework.

Consultation and adoption of the SCI

We consulted widely on our SCI during 2005-06 and submitted it to Government in April 2006. Following a public examination in September 2006, conducted by an independent inspector from the Planning Inspectorate, we received a report detailing changes we had to make to the SCI.

The changes were made and the SCI was adopted in December 2006.

The adopted SCI can be downloaded below. It can also be inspected at borough and district council offices and at most libraries during opening hours. More information is available in the SCI – Adoption statement below.
