The Waste and Minerals Development Framework (WMDF) will decide how and where waste should be dealt with and minerals produced in East Sussex and Brighton & Hove up to 2026. We are working with Brighton & Hove City Council to replace the current Waste and Minerals Local Plans.
During the preparation of new Development Plan Documents (DPDs), we will be consulting with stakeholders, community groups and people living in East Sussex and Brighton & Hove. Consultation will take place as set out in our Statement of Community Involvement.
The WMDF will be made up of the following DPDs:
- Waste and Minerals Plan
- Minerals Sites
- Waste Sites
- Proposals Map.
Consultation on the WMDF
Documents called information papers have been produced to support the preparation of the WMDF. These aim to set out our current knowledge of waste and minerals both generally and in the local area. This information will help us to work with Brighton & Hove City Council when consulting with stakeholders.
Details of other stages in the preparation of the (DPDs) are published in our Minerals and Waste Development scheme.
Sustainability Appraisals (SAs) are carried out to assess whether proposed plans and policies meet sustainable development objectives. Find out more about Sustainability Appraisal.
Construction and demolition waste
The Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) on Construction and Demolition Waste has been prepared to promote a reduction in construction and demolition waste. It contains policy background, best practice guidance and useful contacts.
This SPD forms part of the Waste and Minerals Development Framework and is used when planning applications are considered.
Statement of Community Involvement
The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out our policy for involving local communities and stakeholders in the planning process. Find out more about our Statement of Community Involvement.
