Waste and Minerals Development Framework

The Waste and Minerals Development Framework (WMDF) will decide how and where waste should be dealt with and minerals produced in East Sussex and Brighton & Hove up to 2026. We are working with Brighton & Hove City Council to replace the current Waste and Minerals Local Plans.

During the preparation of new Development Plan Documents (DPDs), we will be consulting with stakeholders, community groups and people living in East Sussex and Brighton & Hove.

The WMDF will be made up of the following DPDs:

  • Waste & Minerals Core Strategy
  • Minerals Sites
  • Waste Sites
  • Proposals Map.

Consultation on the WMDF

An eight week public consultation for the first stage of development of the WMDF took place between 29 February – 24 April 2008.

Information papers

Documents called information papers have been produced to support the preparation of the WMDF. These aim to set out our current knowledge of waste and minerals both generally and in the local area. This information will help us to work with Brighton & Hove City Council when consulting with stakeholders.

Details of other stages in the preparation of the (DPDs) are published in our Minerals and Waste Development scheme.
