Waste and Minerals Development Framework consultation – Issues and Options stage

Our existing waste and minerals plans will be replaced by the Waste and Minerals Development Framework (WMDF). This will be a set of documents which deliver the planning strategy for waste and minerals in East Sussex and Brighton & Hove.

The first part of the consultation process to develop the WMDF was the 'Issues and Options' stage. It aimed to ensure that key issues are identified and considered when planning for waste and minerals. This will be followed by further stages of consultation and an independent examination.

The first Development Plan Documents (DPDs) to go through this consultation process were the:

  • Waste and Minerals Core Strategy which sets out strategic spatial policies for dealing with waste and minerals and will identify broad strategic locations for major facilities.
  • Minerals Sites DPD which considers more detailed site-specific issues relating to future minerals extraction and processing.

There was an eight week consultation period on these documents from 29 February 2008 until 24 April 2008.
