About the Bexhill to Hastings link road planning application

Autumn 2010

Summer 2010

Planning permission granted – July 2009

Planning permission for a link road between Bexhill and Hastings was granted in July 2009, following the Secretary of State's decision not to call in the application for further consideration.

The planning application was made by East Sussex County Council in its role as Highway Authority. The application was considered by the County Planning Authority, which is also the County Council.

Decisions on planning applications for roads are made by councillors who sit on the Planning Committee. They are advised by professional planning officers. Councillors on the Planning Committee have not been involved in developing or promoting the link road. Planning application decisions are subject to strict guidelines. If these are not followed, the Planning Committee's decision could be challenged.
