What is there to do?
There are lots of ways to enjoy the countryside and coast of Rye Bay. Many hidden treasures can be reached by bicycle or on foot, with a network of footpaths and cycle paths allowing easy access.
Walking
There are 250 miles of footpaths and bridleways in the Rye Bay area including long distance and circular walks. Route information and maps can be downloaded from our walks page or see our leaflets about Rye Bay and Camber Sands.
Cycling
The area offers many cycle routes for exploring the countryside. From country lanes to the rolling hills of the High Weald or flat marshes by the coast, there are routes to suit all abilities. The off road cycle path from Rye to Camber Sands is ideal for families to cycle safely to the beach.

Horse riding
There are several bridleways in the area for riders to explore the countryside. During the winter, there are excellent opportunities to ride along the coast at Camber Sands.
Easy access
To provide access for all, footpaths and wildlife sites are always being improved. A number of routes around Rye Bay have been fitted with easy access gates and are accompanied by leaflets providing information on terrain and gradients.
In particular the Camber Castle circular walk and sections of the Royal Military Canal Path are suitable for prams and all terrain mobility vehicles. Read more about these routes on our walks page.
