Weald Forest Ridge LiDAR images

Download images below, showing part of Ashdown Forest at Chelwood Gate on the Weald Forest Ridge.

The images are an example of a LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) aerial survey, which will be carried out as part of the Historic Environment Awareness project.

The LiDAR image shows part of the medieval ditch and bank – known as a 'pale' - of the forest running diagonally from north west to south east. The long mound is an artificial medieval rabbit warren known as a pillow mound.
