  • Apply direct to the school when you see a vacancy
  • Apply to our NQT Primary Pool (below)

You can apply direct to schools for teaching posts advertised on our website. From our Jobs pages, select 'Teaching' under the drop-down 'Job type'.

Primary school

If you are looking for a teaching job in a primary school you can apply to join the Newly Qualified Teacher Primary Pool.

There is one closing date each year for all applications. The deadline for applying to the 2013 primary pool was 11 January 2013.

How it works

We contact applicants at the beginning of March to arrange a date for your interview. If you are successful at the interview, we will help you find vacancies that match your preferences.

A headteacher will then contact you directly as soon as a possible placement becomes available. You can still apply for other teaching vacancies and you do not have to accept a job unless you feel it is right for you.

You can still apply for any other vacancies that arise and you do not have to accept a job unless you feel it is right for you. Once you have found the right job we will send you an induction pack outlining what you will be doing in your first year and the support you will receive.

Secondary school

We hold a register of secondary-trained NQTs which is sent to all 27 secondary schools every month. To register, please email the following details to the Recruitment Support Team:

  • your name
  • address
  • telephone number
  • year group preferences
  • curriculum strengths
  • geographical area in which you are prepared to work.
