What counts as bullying?

Bullying can take many forms such as physical, verbal and emotional abuse or a combination of the above and is often defined as: "deliberate hurtful behaviour, repeated over a period of time, where it is difficult for the victim to defend him or herself”.

Types of bullying can include name calling, teasing, making threats or offensive comments, kicking, hitting, pushing, gossiping, being ignored or left out of groups, and spreading hurtful and untruthful rumours.

Bullying can be done face-to-face, via a third party, or via other means such as text messages, emails and in chat-rooms.
