Improvements to the school

The school now has:

  • a modern one-storey building, purpose built for nursery and reception classes
  • two standard classrooms
  • extra toilet facilities
  • an improved school entrance
  • new staff offices
  • a number of energy saving measures, including double glazing, low energy lighting and solar powered water heating.

Funding the building works

The whole scheme was funded by Tesco as part of an agreement reached with East Sussex County Council in 2003.

Minimising disruption for pupils and staff

Temporary buildings provided alternative accommodation whilst work was carried out and disruption was kept to an absolute minimum.

Planning permission

Planning permission was granted in 2004. Tesco’s own planning application was approved towards the end of 2006.
