Report a child who is out of school
A Child Missing from Education is any child who is not on a school roll or being educated somewhere other than at school.
Please make a referral if you suspect a child may not be receiving an education. You may remain anonymous and we will carry out checks prior to contacting parents and carers. By making a referral you are helping some of the most vulnerable children within our community stay safe and well.
The longer a child misses out on education, the more likely their problems will become entrenched, and the more difficult it can be to respond to their needs.
Some examples of where a referral may be appropriate:
- where families have moved into an area and are unfamiliar with what education provision is available
- breakdown in communications between school and the parent or carer leading to lack of awareness of the child's entitlement to an education
- elective home education has been in place but parents or carers are not able to continue with this option or the education is not suitable
- other reasons that may have prevented the child from accessing education, such as illness or permanent exclusion from school.
If you think a child is missing from education because they haven't got a school place or are not receiving any kind of formal education, or to find out more, please contact the Pupil Tracking Officer 01273 481134 or use the referral form below.
