Application to join a county orchestra or band

If you are an advanced musician student aged 14 years or older and have achieved grade 5 or 6 or higher, then you can apply to join one of the county orchestras or bands by filling in this form.

Specify which orchestra or band you would like to become a member of.

• East Sussex Youth Orchestra (grade 7 or higher, aged 14 or older)
• East Sussex Brass Band (grade 5 or higher, aged 14 or older)
• East Sussex String Chamber Orchestra (grade 7 or higher, aged 14 or older)

You will need to give details of your name, address, the school or college you attend, what music exams you have taken and whether you have been a member of any other orchestra or band.

The form should be signed by you, the applicant. If you are under 18 years old, the form should also be signed by:

• your parent or guardian
• your headteacher
• the head of music at your school
• your instrumental teacher.

The completed form should be sent to the East Sussex Music Service.

We will contact you within five working days of receiving the form with a date for your audition, which normally take place in September and June. Please note that places in the orchestras and bands are limited and you may have to wait until a place becomes available.
