East Sussex Brass Band

East Sussex Brass Band (ESBB) explores the large repertoire of music for brass band, and has an exciting programme planned this year.

Performing

ESBB have previously twinned with the Staffordshire County Brass Band and the Brass Band de Normandie, and takes part in the annual East Sussex Music Service Summer School. They took part in a stunning East Sussex festival of Brass Bands concert in March 2006 and undertook a highly successful four day tour of West Lothian in August 2008.

Conducting the ESBB

ESBB has been conducted on previous summer schools by well regarded guest artists such as John Miller, who has been Professor of Trumpet for the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and, since 2001, Head of Brass at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

In 2006 the band was also conducted by Nigel Boddice MBE who, for many years, has been associated with the National Youth Wind Ensemble and Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

The band is currently conducted by Marcus Plant, a full time brass teacher with the East Sussex Music Service and regional leader for the Eastbourne Area Music Centre.
