Young Music Makers classes for the early years

Music activities for children in the early years are run through our four Area Music Centres, in Crowborough, Eastbourne, Hastings and Lewes.

For detailed information about your nearest centre download our brochure: Area Music Centres.

Years 1 and 2

The Area Music Centres run a wide range of activities for children aged 5 and 6 called Young Music Makers classes.

Classes are 30 minutes long and 30 lessons are offered each year – around 10 per term. Parents are welcome to stay throughout the class.

Classes include music and movement, singing and percussion playing. These classes introduce children to the world of music. Through games and songs children can develop skills in co-ordination, memory, spatial awareness and concentration, in addition to musical skills.

The course lays the perfect foundation for young children who may learn instruments or sing in choirs in the future. Though we do encourage children to learn new skills, the emphasis is firmly on having fun too.
