Civil marriage/partnership ceremony venue licence

The licence to hold civil marriages or partnership ceremonies is valid for three years and costs £1,500 for one ceremony room. Additional ceremony rooms cost £500 each.

There are statutory requirements and conditions applied to these licences. Please read the guidance notes below to make sure that your premises comply before you apply for a licence.

To apply for a licence, fill out the application form below and attach:

  • three copies of a plan of the premises clearly showing which room (or rooms) you wish to license and the interview room
  • a cheque for your fees made payable to 'East Sussex County Council'
  • a copy of your public liability insurance, fire risk assessment and any other supporting documents needed.

Once you have your licence, we will work with you to help make your approved venue successful.
