Our sixth annual poetry competition was a huge success. We received over 350 entries, all on the theme of heroes and heroines. Our judges were delighted to read all the poems, and have chosen the following winners:

16 and over

Winner: Helen Warburton – I am a Super-Hero
Second prize: Karen Costello-McFeat – Ironing Superman's Underpants

11-15s

Winner: Veronica Freeborn – Guide Dog
Second prize: Grace Gregory – Too Awesome for Words
Runner up: Chloe Burchett – Catwoman and batman
Runner up: Harry Cannon – Super Grandad

Under 11s

Winner: Stani Miles – A Woodlouse
Second prize: Natasha Thodsen – My best friend Maya
Runner up: Heather Fitchett – Mythical Poem
Runner up: Jessica Shrubbs – Joan Miro
