South Downs and Wealden AONBs – the Sustainable Development Fund

The Sustainable Development Fund (SDF) supports projects that bring sustainable social, environmental and economic benefits to Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs).

Grants can be given to organisations, businesses, community groups and individuals who wish to explore and develop practical projects that enhance, conserve and improve the environment, economy and way of life across AONBs.

The SDF is a national grant scheme co-ordinated by Natural England on behalf of Defra (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs). There are 36 AONBs in England, covering about 15% of country – each of the protected landscapes has its own SDF.
