2001 Census

On these pages you can find summary information about East Sussex that has been derived from data from the latest census, carried out on 29 April 2001.

Conducted every 10 years, the census provides very detailed statistics for the whole of the UK. It is often the only source of accurate information for small areas of the country. Results from the 2001 Census are still being published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

You can find out more about the census and get hold of further data from the websites for national statistics and neighbourhood statistics.

At the 1901 Census website you can search records of people and properties from a century ago and obtain copies of the original completed census forms.
