These documents outline how organisations in East Sussex have planned to deal with flooding in the county.
Please note, the Environment Agency has changed the name and symbols for their flood warnings. Where these plans refer to the old code ‘Flood Watch', they will normally be treated as a ‘Flood Alert'.
Flood plans
Some parts of the county have been identified as being at higher risk of flooding than others. They are:
- Bulverhythe
- Lewes
- Pevensey Bay
- Rye Bay
- Seaford and Newhaven
- Uckfield.
These areas all have their own flood plans, which set out how the emergency services, the local authorities and the Environment Agency will respond to and deal with a flood.
We've also provided advice for schools, colleges and care homes on how to produce their own flood plans.
Reservoir plans
There are a number of reservoirs across East Sussex, including Bewl Water, Darwell, Powdermill, Weir Wood and others. Reservoir operators such as Southern Water are responsible for dealing with problems at the reservoirs.
We're working with West Sussex County Council and other partners in the Sussex Resilience Forum to produce a generic ‘off-site plan' for responding to reservoir emergencies in Sussex – view the draft plan and related information at West Sussex County Council – Reservoir flood risk.
